HISTORY OF MONIER MANOR
The following are some interesting historical tidbits about MONIER MANOR.
- The town historian indicated he thought the first grape vine in the area was grown on the property, although the first vineyard was created elsewhere in Naples.
- Previous owners found remnants of what appears to be a slave tunnel for underground railroad buried in the basement.
- A fire, probably at the turn of the century destroyed the barn and heavily damaged the house. Still it persisted to survive, first as a restaurant and later as a private residence — now an upscale Bed & Breakfast.
- Three of the fireplaces in the guest areas are original, with marble mantles that were probably added in the Victorian era.
